W Hotel Leaves Fight Against Millennium Project

whotelHEI/GC Hollywood and Vine Condominiums LLC, also known as the W Hotel at Hollywood & Vine, has dismissed its lawsuit against the City of Los Angeles and Millennium Hollywood LLC. The W Hotel filed its notice of dismissal on December 9, 2014.

They are the second of the three original appellants to leave the fight. Now it’s just us — the people of Hollywood who would be severely, negatively impacted if the Millennium Project proceeds.

This is one more reason why it is essential for anyone who cares about the future direction of living in Hollywood to redouble support for our legal effort. While the W Hotel has left the fight, the arguments they raised along with the arguments of former project opponent American Musical and Dramatic Academy still remain.

But we alone must now carry all the issues as we go forth to trial in April 2015. While we do not know the terms of the W Hotel’s departure, we can guess there was a financial component to it since the W Hotel is in the same business line as the proposed Millennium Project, including high end condos.

For us, the people of Hollywood, it is not about business; it is about the survival of our residential community. It is also about making sure our Mayor and City Council follow the law and protect public safety.

We do thank the W Hotel for their cooperation and assistance in bearing much of the court costs associated with preparing the record for trial. But, from this point forward, we are on our own.
