While the City of LA and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce continue to push the failed Transit Oriented Development planning theory and the horrible mixed-used projects in Hollywood, the national trend for young people remains the same as for older generations. Single-family home ownership and suburban living is overwhelmingly preferred. A recent survey reveals that only 10% want to live in a city center. Yet Hollywood developers are still seeking exemptions from zoning rules to build more dense projects.
The Council District 4 election is on March 3. All voters should look carefully at the planning policy position that each candidate takes on future development in Hollywood.
